The canary-yellow dividers of Edinburgh-based Arusha Gallery's corner include a sort of cross-generational exchange between the Scottish craftsman Norman Gilbert, who kicked the bucket in 2019 at age 93, and the London-based Charlotte Keates, who was brought into the world in 1990. Gilbert's works of art and drawings (traversing 1974 to 2001) include figures situated in embrace or examination in inside settings, delivered in intense tones or thick lines of charcoal or groups of ink. Keates' compositions utilize the homegrown spaces from Gilbert's functions as take-off points, extrapolating vaporous, brilliantly designed, and plant-filled insides without human figures
